Coping mechanism
What I am doing:
1. Taking deep breaths
2. Holding my mother more often.
3. Keeping self busy at work.
4. Eating too much.
5. Feeding people around me so #4 is less obvious.
What I am not doing:
1. Telling the whole gory story to the Internet.
2. Running.
3. Sleeping through the night.
4. Cancelling my holiday in June.
5. Eating breakfast.
By definition there are finite things that I am doing. Without acquiring the superhero ability to move at the speed of light, time is still a limiting factor in how I might spend my day.
But things I am not doing? Obviously possibilities are infinite. For instance, I am not leaving in a private jet to see President Obama about swine flu (see overt attempt to divert google traffic to blog). I am also not jumping off a building or moping around the house in mickey mouse PJs. Or eating buckets of fried chicken (though I’d like to) or tubs of ice-cream (less tempting but I wouldn’t refuse it). Or drinking excessively.
Think I have enough ideas for the weekend now. (Don’t worry about the building one. I’m sad but not mad.)
