Who’s more tired?
One of us is a recent mother, one a newlywed, and then there’s me, who’s neither. Ms Newlywed and I are a little nervous, worried that our loud and excited chatting was going to wake the little baby sleeping in the pram right next to our dinner table. The conversation goes:
Newlywed: What happens if she wakes up, and starts crying?
New Mother: Not so bad. Usually we’ll just carry her, walk around, and then she’ll fall asleep.
Newlywed: I don’t understand. How does that work? If you’re the one carrying her and walking around, you should be the one who’s tired. But it’s the baby that falls asleep!
